Our Story

Welcome to Flo’s African Kitchen & Catering, where we bring the rich, bold flavors of Africa to the Chicagoland area. Inspired by the vibrant cuisine of Tanzania, we take pride in serving authentic African dishes made with fresh ingredients, traditional recipes, and a passion for quality service.

A Taste of Tanzania & East Africa
Tanzania, located in East Africa, is a country known for its breathtaking landscapes, rich history, and diverse cultures. Influenced by centuries of trade along the Swahili Coast, Tanzanian cuisine blends African, Arab, Indian, and Portuguese flavors, resulting in dishes that are both aromatic and deeply flavorful. Staples like ugali (maize porridge), nyama choma (grilled meats), pilau (spiced rice), and samosas reflect this unique culinary fusion. At Flo’s African Kitchen & Catering, we honor these time-honored traditions by bringing the true taste of Tanzania to your table.

Idea of Flo’s Kitchen started back when I was young back in Tanzania because of my grandmother’s cooking, everybody always wanted more of her food. After I moved to the USA I noticed I was attracting many people attention whenever I cook, the encouraging feedback made me consider getting serious. My interest for cooking ,learning new recipes , hosting friends and family on occasions also made me consider getting serious and the overwhelming comments and feedbacks from my social media posts made this reality.
